Our Story

 

Established in 2020 in Guernsey, Sleep Better Live Better was founded by Daniel White (right) and Jamie Tolcher (left). 

At Sleep Better Live Better, we believe that everybody should be able to access practical, research-based advice, information and products that can help to improve the way that we sleep, meaning that we can all get the most out of every day of our waking lives.

 We see an enormous pool of untapped potential that could arise from our the world being well-rested, as science clearly demonstrates that sleep is the most potent inner healing, emotionally balancing and performance enhancing force that exists.

When we first set out as passionate sleep advocates we asked ourselves, how different could our world be if everyone felt healthier and happier as a result of being well-rested?

Would we be happier and healthier mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, sons, daughters, students, teachers, friends, colleagues, managers, entrepreneurs and leaders?

Would every person be able to experience what it means to truly live, celebrate life and discover the unique contribution that they are here to make for their communities?

When we sleep better, we feel better and our mental and physical health can flourish. As a result, there can be less hate, less fear, more love and a greater understanding of ourselves and others at a time when the world requires its strongest sense of community connectedness.

Through the Sleep Better Live Better platform, we aim to provide effective educational and researched products that serve our mission - to contribute toward a shift and transformation in the way that people are sleeping.

We want to be part of the transition to a time where every man, woman and child in the world can achieve their full potential to feel healthy, happy and loved, because their day has begun on the foundation of a good nights’ sleep.

Meet Daniel

Daniel is a Registered Nutritionist (MSc, ANutr) and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC) with extensive educational, research and clinical experience in the fields of nutrition, psychology, stress management, sleep science, health education and human behaviour change.

 "As a teenager, I suffered from severe mental and physical health challenges because of addictions to technology and media devices which I now know greatly impacted my ability to achieve high quality sleep. Throughout the ages of 13 to 16, I gained over 4 stone in weight and began to experience severe anxiety, depression and losses in self-confidence and self-esteem. 

Because of the impact of achieving between only 5 to 7 hours of sleep each night, this meant that I wasn't able to maintain my high school attendance or remain focused, concentrated and engaged enough to perform well during the most important years of my GCSE schooling. 

Over a 10 year journey that uncovered the answers to my own health challenges, I completed degrees in Psychology (BSc) and Nutrition and Behaviour (MSc), as well as becoming a Registered Nutritionist and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC). 

In 2020, I launched Sleep Better Live Better, a platform that combines my decade long studies, experience and passion for the betterment of human health by improving awareness and providing education and tools that can support the health of individuals young and old by promoting healthier sleep."

Meet Jamie

Jamie was born and raised in Guernsey (he's a proper Guern, some may say).

Growing up he played a lot of sport and was very physically active, which led to a personal interest in how he could optimise his fitness, nutrition and lifestyle.

Over the past 15 years, Jamie has gained a huge amount of knowledge through studying all aspects of health and wellness. More recently, he's become passionate about helping others to live healthier and happier lives through sharing his knowledge and skills.

"I consider it a great pleasure to be a part of the Sleep Better Live Better team where we're all about helping people to improve the way they sleep. I don't hold the credentials or spout the scientific jargon on camera like Daniel does, but I have a vast amount of knowledge and experience in all areas of nutrition, movement and general wellness with which I support others to improve their wellbeing.

Being a part of this team is the beginning of me being able to give back by transferring my knowledge and love to you all in the form of creating content and awesome products that can help you to transform your sleep. You'll likely see a lot more of Daniel's face than mine, but you can be sure that I'm always in the background, working behind the scenes to make sure that we're providing you with the best quality products and services possible. 

I'm excited and optimistic for the coming months and years ahead, where the tools and resources that we provide will revolutionise the way that people sleep and how they live their lives. We have so many plans to support the health of you and your families in the future and I can't wait to share my energy and enthusiasm with everyone who crosses our path!"
